All is well!

Hey dad!

Just checking in. The last few days have been quite chaotic around here. And not because of damage from the storm, ironically. Most stores in the state closed down during the storm because the power was turned out as a safety precaution. And before the power can be restored the city has to make sure that the entire system is safe and that no damage has been caused to any power lines anywhere. So it has taken a few days for them to do that and people start to get a little chaotic in situations like this. So lines to gas stations and grocery stores and libraries are miles long. I've never seen anything like it! All is well at our area, though. We were without power from monday night to tuesday afternoon. So we were very fortunate. Nobody in our branch was hurt and the only damage I know of was a sister who had her car smashed by a big tree. I took a picture so you can see how cool it is. And sad. I'll send my memory card soon.

I really liked that quote because often I think of service as a commandment and not a blessing. But I can't think of anytime where an honest act of service hasn't yielded lasting happiness. And true happiness. So I appreciate you reminding me of that. I'm sure that the next several weeks and months will be filled with lots of service. As soon as the gas shortage is over we were told by the mission president that we will be driving down to places like Eatontown and Tom's River and perhaps even Brooklyn to do heavy cleanup. We'll see how that goes!

All is well here. The only thing we have to suffer through is not being able to drive that much because we need to conserve gas. Fortunately we had filled up, not even knowing about the incoming hurricane, just a few days before.

I hope you are all doing well! I miss you all.

Love,
Tab
